Before you swing, check your stance by wiggling your toes. You should be able to wiggle your toes easily; if you can’t do so, you’re leaning too far forward. A professional golfer will learn a good angle for leaning away from the ball. This is meant to give some wiggle room in the feet and set up a proper stance.

TIP! A great way to get more exercise out on the course is to forgo the electric cart and instead opt to walk. You’ll get an excellent workout as you complete the course, and golfing can truly become an effective part of your physical fitness routine.

Sweet Spot

Every club contains a “sweet spot,” which is where the face will strike the ball with greatest accuracy. When you hit the ball at the lowest point of your swing, you can gain greater distance. Make sure you have the proper grip when you are setting up to hit a shot. The grip should be snug against your palms, and both thumbs should point down. Your hands should be touching each other. When you want to hit your shot as far as possible, you must choke the club slightly as you swing.

Try to be as natural as possible with your stances.. One easy way to correct your stance is to practice your stance without a club. Stand with flexed knees, bend at the waist slightly and naturally drop your arms in front of yourself. Clasp your hands and hold them together. That’s the natural golf stance in a nutshell. If you feel uncomfortable, then you are trying too hard and you need to relax.

TIP! Prior to purchasing a golf club, consider getting one custom-fitted for you. Every person has a different weight, height and body structure, so a golf club that works exceptionally well for one player, may be difficult for another player to use.

As you get into position to prepare swing, allow your hips to move freely; this allows you to transfer your weight from your back foot to your leading foot. Hip swing, a move where your weight is shifted from your back foot to your front foot, is a critical determinant in your golf swing.

TIP! Inspect your golf clubs before buying them. The club head is especially important; don’t buy clubs without checking the heads for wear.

Make sure you don’t discourage yourself by golfing with people on a higher level than you. As you are warming up to the game, work your way up by playing on easy courses and with players who are on your level. It’s senseless to smother your eagerness by tackling a difficult course or playing with partners who far exceed your skill level.

TIP! Stand with the ball about 3-5 feet in front of you, and keep your eyes on the spot where you intend to place the ball. During this point, you should also be aware of the wind and your surroundings as a whole.
