Golf Advice You Shouldn’t Pass Up

June 29, 2018 by Jason Lyons

Perhaps golf is the perfect hobby for you. Golf is a fantastic way to be outside in the fresh air while spending time with friends. Not only does golf require you to use your body, it also requires the use of your mind. Use these tips to learn more about the ever-popular game of golf.

TIP! When golfing, sometimes it’s better to walk, rather than getting a golf cart. Walking the course will also help you become more familiar with the grounds and help you with your shots.

Walk and don’t rent a golf cart. This is very beneficial to your health as you will be increasing your exercise on the course. If you walk, your muscles will be more flexible than if you ride. Flexibility helps your golf swing and the accuracy of your shots.

TIP! Make sure to use your body to your advantage while you play. Use your entire body as a power source, rather than just your arms.

The key thing to consider when looking for a powerful swing is using both your upper and lower body to create momentum through the ball. Novice golfers think the power comes from the arms, but only using the arms can make weak and awkward swings. Moving your whole body will transfer the strength and motion from your legs and torso through to your ball.

TIP! Use the entire body for power when swinging the golf club. Just relying on arm strength, as novices tend to do, will not produce a strong, smooth swing.

Wiggling your toes will help to get a better sense of your posture as you prepare to swing your golf club. If you can do this without difficulty, you are probably leaning too far back from the ball. Try leaning toward the ball so much that you can still move your feet a little, but not a lot.

TIP! Wiggling your toes can tell you much about your posture as you are getting ready to take a golf swing. If you are able to move your feet without difficulty, you are probably not leaning in far enough.

Sweet Spot

TIP! When you are putting, you should address the ball with your left hand ahead of the ball. Putt the ball, keeping your hands steadily in this position as you follow through.

Each golf club in existence has it’s own “sweet spot.” When you hit your ball squarely with the sweet spot on the face of the club, your ball takes off with perfect accuracy. Regular and consistent practice with each club in your bag will show you their individual sweet spots over time. Once you know them, always remember to contact your ball with the sweet spot at the farthest reach of your swing.

TIP! If possible, when trying to improve your golf game, play with golfers who are experienced so you can pick up on their techniques. There are various ways to benefit from a pro golfer.

Focus on how you will proceed with the next shot. Don’t carry with you the mental weight of your last shot, regardless of its success or failure; nor should you get distracted by the water hazard you are approaching. Anxiety about earlier poor plays can really have an effect on your game, so do your best to push them from your mind completely, rather than dwelling on them.

TIP! If you want a powerful golf swing, use all your bodies muscles, in particular the leg and trunk muscles. Your body needs to accelerate with the finesse of a whip.

It’s extremely important to understand how to correctly score a golf game. When you know how to keep score you aren’t judged as a bad player, it is something that shouldn’t be overlooked. Each time you hit the ball is counted as one stroke. Your total score for a hole is the number of strokes you take to put the ball in the hole. Unlike most sports, a lower score is better!

TIP! Use a light, neutral grasp on all of your golf clubs. Gripping the club too tightly will send your shots careening to the right.

A good swing is backed by the strength and motion of the whole body as rooted in your core and legs. Use your legs to power your swing and swing your body in a whip-like motion.

TIP! Line up both feet correctly before every shot. This simple step is considered to be one of the most important parts of maintaining a consistent swing.

As stated above, golf is a great sport to get both physical and mental exercise while hanging out with friends outdoors. So, if you are looking forward to taking up an engaging new sport, look no further. These easy tips will help you start playing golf and be on your way to a happier, healthier you.

TIP! During your drive, the back of your front foot should line up with the ball. The golf ball must be central and in between your feet during your swings.
